Colwelt Spike Lawn Aerator, Manual Aerator for Compacted Soils and Lawns, Non-Slip T-Handle Spike Aeration with Four 3.5-Inch Solid Steel Spikes, 38-Inch
$ 10.60
The assembly was 4 bolts and both the hardware with lock nuts and the two required wrenches were included. I do feel a smidge of play/wiggle when I use this tool. I’ve double checked all the fittings and the bolts/nuts are tight. It has a touch of play where the two pieces come together, in other words. However, the function is not affected whatsoever; at least not yet, I’ll keep an eye on this issue to see if time accentuates.I have hollow spiked tools for pulling cores but I needed a solid tine tool to compliment. The spikes are strong, sturdy, almost fully pointed and so far this tool has penetrated some seriously hard clay rocky soil with no issues. If I could change one thing I’d alter the diameter of the spikes to a 1/8th inch larger tine for slightly larger punctures. Im stuffing leaf, wood, and organic waste mulch into the holes in an attempt to improve the clay soil over time. Im also filling some holes with a gritty sandy mix to a. Help promote better drainage and b. To cut some of the acidity of this rich soil.The best thing about this purchase are the free gloves with the bumblebee on them. My girl works at a beehive and therefore these gloves were a smash hit. LolI recommend this tool if your goal is punching holes in soil. Because of several variables that I won’t bore you with, I cannot exclusively use the hollow tined aeration tool. It’s a bit invasive when used in excess, at least it is on my lawn. And for the price, this tool punches holes with ease and serves the purpose I was seeking.Hope this helps
